Ciao ciao

Ciao a tutti.

Leggendo le ultime news relative al gioco UT2003, pare che quest'ultimo risulti affetto da bug con schede video ATI 9700.

Computer lock-up problems
Update:

Good news (well, sort of )

In an attempt to reproduce the lock up problems some of you are having I brought home my "big iron" machine from the office and installed a Radeon 9700 in it last night.

This machine is a Dual Athlon 1900+ that I had at home for a while and took back to the office during testing. It has a very clean Windows XP Pro install and only a handful of games (Battlefield 1942 demo, Grand Prix 4 and various versions of UT2003) that I installed on it. BTW, Battlefield 1942 and Grand Prix 4 are superb games.

Up until last night it had a GeForce 4 ti 4600 in it. With the ti 4600 this machine was absolutely rock solid 100% of the time. Some European magazine writers used it when they came visit us just before we went gold and never reported any problems with it during an entire day of doing nothing but playing UT2003 on it with everything set pretty high.

With the ATI Radeon 9700 it consistently locks up hard after playing UT2003 for just a few minutes. This particular card is one of the pre-release 9700's (but supposed to be final silicon) that ATI sent us along with the latest drivers from their web site (same ones we shipped with the game). This machine is now going back to the office for extensive testing. On the way to the office I'm going to stop by CompUSA and buy an off-the-shelf retail 9700 and I fully expect, based on what I'm reading here, that the same problems will occur.

Right now I feel really stupid for not installing the 9700 in this machine during testing of the game. I had actually planned to try that but I never did it because there were enough other Radeon 9700 machines running the game and, at the time, they were going through new drivers pretty often. That is normal for prerelease cards but I didn't want to deal with it in a machine I planned to take home again. Big mistake and I apologize for that.

Hopefully now we can use this machine to find a solution to these strange problems.

Regardless of the game when windows comes back up the crash log starts off by saying "The display driver for the RADEON 9700 series seems to be responsible for the system instability."

BONUS: this machine also locks up (exact same symptoms, screen shot w/sound looping) in the Battlefield 1942 multiplayer demo and in Grand Prix 4. I had to play GP4 for about 20 minutes before it crashed but BF1942 crashed within 9 or 10 minutes whereas UT2003 crashes within 4-5 minutes. So we'll have more than one testcase to try and pinpoint some suggested solutions.

As I said before even if we're not causing the problem we still consider the fact that some of you can't play our game to be our problem and we're going to work diligently with our hardware partners to find solutions. So please be patient and hopefully we'll have some suggested remedies soon. For now we have a machine on which we can reproduce the problem - at least for Radeon 9700 anyway.

If you're having lock-ups and you find solutions please post them in this thread!

Oltre a suscitare notevoli polemiche, la cosa ha incuriosito molti fan.

Mi domandavo a questo punto se fosse possibile realizzare un logo con inciso

"Only NVidia. Other videocards at your risky" :)
